Institutional floors are the hardest-worked surfaces in Namibia — a thousand school shoes a day, hostel corridors at all hours, hospital wards where the floor is part of infection control. The sheet’s floor section runs deep for exactly this reason: Florshine, Florstrip and the powder programme behind them.
Slip incidents in institutions carry liability; wet-floor signage (see consumables) plus a documented programme is the standard defence.
Book the December strip-and-seal crew in October — every Namibian institution wants the same two holiday weeks, and the January term waits for no contractor.
The lines schools, hostels & hospitals buyers draw from this category most.

Deep work in the holidays, maintenance in term: December/January strip (Florstrip) and re-dress (Florshine, two thin coats) of the dressed floors — halls, offices, classrooms — then term-time daily sweeping and Biopine powder scrubbing of corridors and wet areas, with a May holiday touch-up coat where traffic demands. Dressing over old polish is the classic failure: it powders within weeks, which is why the strip comes first.
The floor joins the infection-control programme: cleaning happens with disinfectant chemistry (Swan Pine Gel, or the ward’s assigned product like Hydrosan 3% from the sheet’s disinfectant lines) on a colour-coded, documented schedule, and finishes must tolerate that regime — high-solvent or heavily perfumed products don’t belong. Spill response (bodily fluids) follows the facility’s protocol with disinfection at its centre. The chemistry is ordinary; the documentation discipline is what changes.
Interception and damp methods: mats or grids at every entrance doing the passive work, damp-mopping (Swan Pine Gel or Bluetrain solution) rather than the dry sweeping that just launches dust toward the desks, and dressed floors in classrooms — a sealed surface releases dust to the mop instead of holding it. The full fix is civil (paving the main routes), but the cleaning programme buys most of the benefit for a fraction of the cost.
In offices, libraries and staff rooms, yes — with machine extraction on the calendar: Hydrovac (the low-foam machine product on the sheet) each holiday, Foamolene for manual spot work between. In dormitories and high-traffic corridors, hard floors with the powder programme outlast carpet by years and stay hygienic in a way institutional carpet never does. Where carpet exists, clean it on schedule or replace it; a dirty carpet in a hostel is a health finding.
