Floor care built for workshop grease and Namibian dust

A floor powder such as Magnus 92 or Biopine is a dry blend of detergent, alkali and abrasive that you scatter, scrub with water and rinse. On oily workshop and engine-room floors the powder sits in the grease and keeps working where a liquid runs off, and the mild abrasive gives mechanical action on smooth concrete. Powders also store indefinitely in hot storerooms and cost less per cleaned square metre than ready-mixed liquids — which matters when the store is a mine site 600 km from Windhoek.

Magnus 92 is the workshop product: it is built for oil, diesel and brake dust on concrete, and it is what transport depots and mine workshops across Namibia scrub their floors with. Biopine Floorpowder is the institutional product: it cleans corridors, kitchens and ablutions while leaving a pine-fresh smell, which is why hostels, schools and fishing-factory accommodation blocks standardise on it. They are not interchangeable — Magnus 92 in a hostel corridor is over-specified, and Biopine will not hold up against sump oil.

Strip with Florstrip — A as the low-foam stripper, or T where the job doubles as heavy-grease degreasing — to cut the old polish back to bare vinyl, rinse until the water runs clear, then apply Florshine in two thin coats rather than one thick one. The most common failure we see in Namibian institutions is dressing over half-stripped polish — the new coat powders and scuffs within weeks. Foamolene is a high-foam dry-foam carpet cleaner for manual cleaning — brush the foam in, let it capture the soil, vacuum it off; use it for offices and guesthouse rooms cleaned by hand. Hydrovac is low-foaming and made for extraction machines, where foam would fill the recovery tank and trip the float. Using the manual product in a machine is the classic mistake: the machine chokes on foam. Both come out of the Windhoek factory, so a contract cleaner can run both off one order.
